1990

1990 HIF was up in the next to highest division and it was in fact on the point of going directly to allsvenskan, but had to be satisfied with the second place after BK Häcken. Also 1991 HIF was extremely close to get up to the big series, but fell after a thrilling qualification play at Ruddalen against Västra Frölunda. But 1992 it finally went all the way.

After 3-0 home and 6-1 away against IFK Sundsvall in the qualification the allsvenska ticket was secured. The stars in the team were Mats Magnusson, Henrik "Henke" Larsson, Jonas Dahlgren, Anders Jönsson and Lino Boriero.

HIF was back in allsvenskan, where the team belongs.

And the rest of the nineties the club developed both sporting and, not least, organizingly and economically.

Reine Almqvist entered as trainer and guided the team out in Europe, with eighth part final in the Uefa-cup against Anderlecht as the highlight. On the way among others the English great team Aston Villa was knocked out.

1998 entered the Norwegian Åge Hareide as trainer. In the team there were guys like Magnus Powell, Mattias Jonsson, Andreas Jacobsson and Sven Andersson in the goal. The first year it was on the point of being gold, but the team fell at the finishing line. 1999 it happened on the other hand, at the old centuries last season.

HIF won gold in allsvenskan and, not enough with that, also won the Swedish cup. The best year in the history of the club, considering that it also became advancing in the uefa-cup against Parma. Last time the cup and serie was won (1941) it didn’t exist any European cup-play.
