1980

1981 a 17-year old by the name Roland Nilsson made debut in the A-team, brought forward by the trainer Bertil Hansson. Roland Nilsson also made entrance in the junior-EM and scored against Poland. As 19-year old he dissapeared however from HIF, attracted to the great club IFK Göteborg where he eventually got himself a place in the national team and yes, the rest you know about. Professional in Sheffield Wednesday, back home to HIF, professional in Coventry and now, since two years back, back at mothers street in Helsingborg. One of Swedens best football players through all times, you just have to check the international match - statistics, still doing great services for his HIF.

After industrious struggle first half of the eighties it never became allsvenskan for HIF.Instead occured the great disappointment 1986 with that the team fell out of the next to highest series and again had to start over in the third division. Bosse Nilsson took over as trainer and had to start building a completely new team. Guys like Piter Esberg, from Öis, and Lino Boriero from Öster was recruited and they became the first new additions in Bosse Nilssons ball friendly team.

1989 Ingvar Wenehed took over the chairman's gavel. He started with attracting the old MFF- goalkeeper Janne Möller. Mikael Ragvald was brought from Markaryd. And already the first year it became series victory in division 2.
